Jesper Julian Møller is the owner and CEO of the street food markets Reffen, Broens Street Food and Seaside in Copenhagen and Storms Pakhus in Odense.
He is an entrepreneurial man with big ambitions. Each season has to be better than the last, and successes are always celebrated. In 2025, however, the celebrations will be stepped up when Jesper Julian Møller turns 50 and celebrates his 25th anniversary as an independent restaurateur.
Big ideas, entrepreneurship and risk-taking are key words that describe Jesper's rise in the restaurant industry. His career began when he got his first job as a dishwasher at Græsted Kro at the age of 10. He then went to cookery school and trained as a chef, and for a number of years he chopped, steamed and braised at several renowned restaurants such as Kong Hans, Olsen and Falsled Kro.
In 2000, he took the plunge and started as a restaurateur at the National Museum in Copenhagen. Here he spoiled hungry museum guests, Cop 15 participants and others, and cooked up ambitious projects that would strengthen Copenhagen's position on the gastronomic world map.
In 2014, he went all in and took over the old paper halls on Papirøen in Copenhagen, where he established the street food market PapirØen - the first of its kind in Denmark. The mission was to help young, talented chefs become independent restaurateurs and give something back to Copenhagen. This was largely successful. PapirØen was a big hit, but it had to be closed down in favour of housing construction.
However, Jesper had a real taste for street food and cracked the code on how to set up and run successful food markets with a strong team. In 2017 he opened Storms Pakhus, the following year he opened Reffen and Broens Street Food, and in 2019 he launched street food at Seaside.
In addition to street food, all the markets have a lot of culture and international flavour on the menu. They appeal to people of all ages from all corners of the world and are now among the most visited destinations in Copenhagen and Odense.
In short, Jesper Julian Møller has a lot to celebrate in 2025.Â
